4 out of 5 stars Finally a small PC that's made for ThinkPad fans   July 4, 2010

I upgraded to 4GB of memory and it's really spritely. I was concerned that it would lag under Windows 7, but that hasn't been a problem at all. Flash video at full screen doesn't quite have the performance I hoped for, but it could be a connectivity issue, as when I play back saved videos it performs much better. I had placed a customize-to-order with Lenovo for the dual core version but there were numerous roadblocks in their process before fulfilling the order so I cancelled it and got the pre-built from Amazon. I don't regret it! I have had several ThinkPads and I have loved them all. This is no exception.

5 out of 5 stars Awesome sub-compact laptop   June 25, 2010

I was looking at various options in the Netbook/sub-compact range and decided the X100e seemed to fit my needs the best. I could not be more happy with this computer. Much much faster than any netbooks that I've seen, but basically the same size. It only weighs a few ounces and has reasonably good battery life, but not quite as good as netbook.

The amazing keyboard and better speed make up for the battery performance issue and I'm very happy with my decision. Like one of the other reviewers, I switched out the hard drive for an Intel 80gb SSD and up graded to Windows 7 Ultimate. This gives me extremely quick load times and don't ever see speed problems with web surfing and using office.

I thought this would just be a travel laptop for me, but I'm pretty much using it for everything now. The only time I'll use my larger laptop is when I'm using Adobe CS, which is probably a little to much for the X100e's processor.

I've owned several high performance Dells and HPs and really like this Thinkpad better than all of them.

5 out of 5 stars Cant go wrong with a Lenovo.   June 19, 2010
Jean M. Fleck (Bismarck ND USA)
After using a Lenovo Ideapad for the past 3 years,it was a no brainer as to what netbook I would be interested in purchasing as a travel computer. As I have only had this netbook for 7 weeks maybe I am not fully qualified to judge it,but up to this point I am completely satified with its performance on a daily usage,no complaints what so ever.I use Skype often and the quality of the webcam is really good.By the way,the Lenovo Tech Support is excellant,if its ever needed.Would I recomend the Lenovo Thinkpad, most definately.

2 out of 5 stars Buggy Machine, OK Service Experience, Shady Salesman   June 16, 2010

Bought a x100e about 1 1/2 weeks ago. When I first opened the laptop to set it up, it already froze on me. In the ensuing ten days or so, it kept doing that.

I called the service reps. All they suggested was to update the software. At one time, the software the rep asked me to download was even a later version than the ones I downloaded during the previous service session!

Then yesterday, one of the reps told me that it was a software problem and they had nothing to do with it! Even though I had not downloaded any software other than the ones they suggested!

Anyway I decided to follow her advice to reinstall the operating system since I need a laptop badly as my old one is not working properly. However, the x100e froze within an hour after the reinstallation!

I finally had enough and asked for a full refund. The guy at the return department agreed to the terms and I was assured that there would be no extra charges on me at all.

Relieved, yet still shaken from the experience, I did not take his offer to speak to a sales person to order another laptop after I got his assurance of a full refund.

This morning, after much agonzing (as I do need a new laptop), I decided to call Lenovo 1) to see when the UPS people are going to come to pick up the machine; 2) to see whether or not I can get a discount if I do place an order with them since I was still not quite sure after my terrible experience with them.

I was connected with the rep in the return department I spoke yesterday. He told me that the UPS people will give me a call within 24 hours. He then transferred my call to the sales department. The guy took my guy sounded like a criminal. Not only did he not offer me a discount, he also threatoned me that if I did not place an order with him, he would charge me 15% (later changed to 21%) restocking fee! I asked to be transferred back to the rep at the return department I spoke with previously, he told me that the other rep couldnot help me and only he had the power! At that moment, I felt as though I was blocked the only exit in a dard one-way alley! I began to yell at him, "You heard me. I said NO. I am NOT going to place an order with you." He finally transferred my call back to the return department. A different rep took my call. I asked him several times whether or not I will get a full refund. His answer was always a definitive yes. At that point, I decided to return the sleeve for x100e I ordered from them as well since I don't need it afterall. He was nice to take my cancellation as well.

To sum up my experience, the machine may be buggy (I said may be since other people are saying nice things about it), the services are mixed (some are good, some are nasty), the salesperson is certainly shaddy!

5 out of 5 stars Happy with my ThinkPad   June 6, 2010
Armando Zamarripa (Austin)
I've had several laptops and this is by far the sturdiest. The worst was my Dell. My HP and Sony have been very good. The battery life on the ThinkPad is by far the best, I can get 4 to 5 hours. The screen is easy to read and bright enough. The processor speed is good. Very easy to travel with. Hard to find a case that would fit and I returned to Amazon and purchased the Mobile Edge MESSU1-10 10/11.6-Inch Ultraportable Neoprene Sleeves for Netbooks which I recommend, great fit.
