Piece of Garbage September 5, 2010 K. Kuras I don't know how anyone could give this more than 1 or 2 stars! It is SO thin and cheap and junky! In fact, it so chintzy that my (small) laptop often weighs the pad down, pushing it onto the table surface so that fan blades stop! The thin plastic chipped the first time I used it and it also got cracked. If you set the laptop on it perfectly lined up, it doesn't push it down much. I am looking for a better one, I don't know what I expected for a $8 fan. It is better than nothing, though, I suppose. But you can ONLY use this on a flat surface (table/desk) since the fans are so exposed. By the way, my sister has this same exact fan and had the same exact experience as me.
Gets the job done...on a desk September 1, 2010 Zee (Los Angeles, CA United States) I'm using this cooler with a 14" Dell Laptop. Upon arrival, the cooler felt extremely flimsy to the touch, but has thus far held up very nicely. It does a good job at cooling, it is quiet, and turns off when your computer turns off (if you have it plugged to your computer and not a separately powered usb hub). My only beef with the cooler is that the fans are not covered. Even though the cooler permanently stays on my desk (there's no way you could use this on an uneven surface, like your lap or a blanket), occasionally pens or papers shimmy under the cooler and can interfere with the fans.
All in all, for the price, I can't complain too much.
Not too shabby considering the price August 29, 2010 davidmitpsk 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
You kind of laugh when you get the package cause it's written with some Chingrish and it looks pretty weaksauce. However, it does pretty much what it says it will do: 3 fans blow some air, elevates the laptop and gives it a slant (0.5 inches in front / 1 inch in back), blue LED lights. For under $8 I find the elevation & tilt of the laptop useful already, so that almost makes it worth it. The fans work, they blow air, and havent been catching on surfaces yet (only had it for a short time) - except I did stick my fingers into them accidentally a few times because they are pretty exposed, but theres not enough torque to hurt you so its pretty safe too. As for the lights, ehhh not a pro or a con. In the end it probably cools it just slightly - been monitoring my core tempteratures with and without fan and I think it gives me about 2 C cooler on average at low processor load, but spikes are about the same at high loads. So it might help prevent overheating in the long run but just isn't powerful enough with good enough airflow design to really make a huge difference. A fourth fan would make a bigger difference I think.
All in all, worth it.
Not Goodd.. waste of money August 24, 2010 AJ Total waste of money.. 3 small fans.. not durable ..better to buy some good cooling pads than wasting money..
very little air movement August 21, 2010 Sarah Bernier No complaints. It was only $6 but I was hoping it would move a little more air and I will not purchase another.
It does not move a lot of air but it does cool a little.
The plastic is very flexible and this device MUST be used on a hard surface.
The blue LED is neat looking.
